Lisa Miskovsky - Little bird

I love this song so it had to appear here.
She is a Swedish singer and I think vitually unknown in this country.
I did put up another of her songs 'Still Alive' in a previous post.

Still Alive

I found this  song by accident. From what I understand she is from Sweden.
It seems she is virtually unknown in the UK. I really like the song above. Apparently it's from the sound track of some computer game.
I bought her album 'Changes' which is really growing on me. Highlights so far are Little Bird, Acceptable Losses, California Heart.
Well worth a listen especially 'Little Bird' if you can find it which for some reason reminds me a bit of Mike Oldfield's Songs of Distant Earth.

Doubleback

This morning Back To The Future 3 was on and this song was on at the end credits. I  have always liked  ZZ Top. I guess when it comes to music  you don't get much more masculine than these 3. I remember seeing them in London before the videos of 3 of the songs from Eliminator really took off.
The Old American West has always fascinated me. Actually the film and the song got me thinking about horses again. Really I am just waiting to get out again and I've got to leave my nails alone. I've managed to protect them apart from chipping one thumb. They are at the longest they've ever been, but hopefully not that noticeable. I've been keeping my hands in my pockets a lot. Maybe I should have put 'Garbage' 'I Think I'm Paranoid' up instead.
I guess it would better if I stopped putting up mad posts on this blog and just relaxed.
Time to stop babbling.

Poets of the Fall: Revolution Roulette LIVE at Lost In Music

Yesterday I put up a couple of posts and then deleted them. I was having a bit of a horrible day and should have stayed away from this blog.
Anyway here is another song from my favourite Finnish band.

Unexpected Pleasure

The last few days have been really depressing for me. It's been like a black cloud has been following me around. I can't really say whats wrong. I guess there have been a few things that have got to me.
I always try to find something to smile about and in the last post I did,
I love music and usually  I can find something to help lift my mood, but there was nothing. I kept thinking maybe tomorrow will be better, but over the last 4 or 5 days nothing was improving. In bob world I think people I know  were picking up on that I was feeling out of sorts so left me to get on with it. I've got some decisions to make which I won't go into here, but I really don't want to screw things up.
On You Tube I typed in 'Maybe Tomorrow' in the search box to see what would come up. Songs by the Jackson 5 and Stereophonics came up. Scrolling down I saw 'Poets of the Fall'. I'd never heard of them so kept scrolling down. Nothing really caught my eye, but a seed had been planted.
I decided to get some sleep, the phrase 'maybe tomorrow' repeating in my mind.' What was the name of that band ? Poets of something or other.' I wasn't going to get to sleep so I decided to type maybe tomorrow into You Tube search again.
Poets of the Fall, I thought the name sounded a bit depressing. I decided after reading some of the comments to listen to the song Maybe Tomorrow'. 'Wow', that sounds not to bad so I saved it to this blog which is in the post below.
I decided I had to listen to some more. Carnival of Rust I think is their cd from 2006. This band is good, I love the lyrics and the singer really delivers them. The songs hooked me.
This band are virtually unknown in the UK. One comment stated how good they are and ended with,'By the way they are Finnish.' That surprised me for some reason. I think they are a rock band with a distinctive sound. I think given enough air play in say the USA they would do very well at least.
I spent £15 and downloaded 2 of their albums, 'Carnival of Rust and Twilight Theater'. I've always liked rooting around for stuff in record shops, but with independent record shops disappearing, that's becoming a thing of the past, sadly.
Unexpectedly finding  music like this is very satisfying and has certainly helped lift that black cloud.
The song at the start of this post 'Sorry Go Round', has become a firm favourite.
Have a listen and hopefully enjoy.

Another Memory

YouTube - Sweetest little thing - live - Stan Webb´s Chicken Shack .wmv

The song above totally blew me away when I first heard it and I nearly burst into tears.  I was watching Chicken Shack live so I was trying to keep the tears  back so no one would notice, but a couple did escape. This was 2 or 3 years ago if my memory is right. They were on the bill with John Mayall and his Blues Breakers.
I guess this song was always going to end up on this blog.
I've been going through my cd collection and came across the cd I bought at the concert. The version I saw,  Stan Webb  also added a bit of the Nine Inch Nails song 'Hurt'. You may remember 'Hurt' was covered by Johnny Cash before he died.
On a lighter note, the month is passing ok. I did try a wig that I bought awhile ago on the net. I decided to put some make up on and see how I looked. To be honest I nearly fell over laughing. I looked like a younger version of a relation of mine. I don't think I'll be wearing this one out anytime soon.
The real positive is I am smoke free and feeling good.

Detox

Bouncing around around feeling healthier. Now in the process of detoxing which involves drinking lots of water, eating healthy, exercise and having a big clean out.
This feels so good.
Below are 2 songs from a band I'm listening to at the moment.
Sorry about the second one, 'Slam', but the video did make me smile. The man in the second video had some bottle to do that. Good on him.

Moon on a Mirrorball

YouTube - Judie Tzuke - Cup Of Tea Song

I decided to give myself a couple of little rewards with the money I've saved from giving up smoking.
One of my favourite singers, Judie Tzuke has a a new cd coming out called, Moon on a Mirrorball a retrospective of 30 years of her music. I decided to pre-order it from her site along with another from a few years ago, The End of The Beginning. They both came today  I've said it before she is one of the most under rated vocalists this country has produced and that goes for her song writing as well.
I think most people recognise 'Stay With Me Till Dawn', a beautiful song which I think may have become a bit of millstone.
There are a whole load of highlights on the Moon double cd including the one linked above. I would have preferred a You Tube link to another couple of songs. Faith, Break Your Skin, I Will or Bully, jump out but unfortunately I couldn't find any links.
One really pleasant surprise, was The End of The Beginning cd is signed by the lady herself which I thought was a nice touch.
Below is a link to her site.
  Judie Tzuke

It really does seem such a long time since I saw her on the Ritmo tour in the early eighties. It's great to see she is still going strong as the 4 new songs on the 'Moon' cd more than prove.

Synchronicity

YouTube - Lift Me Up - Kate Voegele

The link above is to a singer songwriter I had never heard of before, but her last release led to me  to downloading it from the net, legally I might add. I still like to buy cd's, but sometimes there is music I like that I can only get via the net. This was the first time I've downloaded mp3's and found it's quite a bit cheaper than buying the cd. Shows how behind the times I am.
Typing the name of my other blog into a search engine one of the hits was Kate Voegele so I decided to hear what she sounded like and was pleasently surprised. Couldn't find her 2 albums anywhere and thats when I resorted to buying the mp3s. It's terrible how this is probably destroying record shops, but I guess it's like trying to fight the tide.
The album is called 'A Fine Mess'. Highlights are '99 Times', 'Inside Out' and the one above which is a really positive song that reminds me of a few people.
It's great when you get this synchronicity which leads to a really pleasent surprise.

Time Passages

YouTube - Al Stewart - Time Passages (with lyrics)

I've recently returned from 3 days  in Manchester which I'll  write about in the next post.
I didn't feel to good while there, but it was great seeing my friends. While there I had an urge to hear the song above. The lyrics just say so much for me.
Al Stewart should have been as big as Bob Dylan round the world in my opinion

One Dream

Thought I'd put this up. It's for the Vancouver Winter Olympics next month.
I really like the song and hope she releases a new album soon.

YouTube - Santana Marathon - All I Ever Wanted (Live)

Thought I'd finish this year on this blog with an upbeat song from Santana.
It's been a strange year, I guess I  won't forget 2009 in a hurry. I know it's a bit early to be going on about another year over, but to be honest I would just like to get this holiday season over. If I remember rightly and got the dates right, the shortest day of the year has passed. The days now will start to get longer and we head towards summer. I always think that is worth celebrating.
Next year all I hope for is stability, I did once look forward and hope the new year would be a better one than the last. Now as I've said before it's just day to day. Perhaps next year will be better, but then again this year hasn't been to bad. I've had some wonderful unforgetable moments for which I  am very thankful.
For anyone who reads this I hope you have a Happy Christmas and the New Year is at the very least kind to you.
Take care and look after yourselves.
Karen xx

Edit:-
I've kind of being trying to see what I'm still capable of. I know I'm a lot weaker than I was a few years ago and since the MS I've been sort of testing myself. A bit silly I know.
I had to do a bit of a heavy lift job and decided not to ask for any help and completed it myself. I took a bit longer and I did feel a bit dizzy at one point.
I feel good and no ill effects and I have no idea why I've posted this here.

Tattoo

Tattoo - Jordin Sparks

I found this, just click above . The song Tattoo is by Jordin Sparks who won American Idol in 2007 if my information is correct.
I can see what the person who put together the video means about this song. Not one I would usually listen to, but there you go.
The images go really well with the lyrics it's well worth a look.

YouTube - Lucie Silvas - Guardian Angel + Lyrics

This is a song I posted a link to on the other blog and I know it became a favourite of Debbie who has helped me so much with her positive thoughts and messages. Today I hope her Guardian Angel is watching over her.

Travelling

YouTube - Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone 1966

I've being hearing this song quite a lot recently so I looked it up to see what versions I could find.
This one was recorded in Newcastle which gives me an excuse to say I will be off out there next month for a night out.
I would really like to combine Manchester and Newcastle into one journey out sometime. It would be interesting crossing the Pennines in K mode on the train. The really scary part would be checking into the hotel when I got to Newcastle.
I haven't forgotten Brighton and London and there is another place on the south coast I would love to visit for reasons I won't go into here.
I never thought I would get on a train from Manchester to Blackpool. I don't know if I have the bottle to go furthur in K mode, but it may become an overwhelming need like other things I've done. Anyway what is there to lose.
All of this travelling is about me being myself and helps me learn more. It makes sense to me if no one else and I intend to keep going as long as I can.
As I wrote elsewhere-
Survive, live and learn.
xx

Looking Forward

YouTube - live - Sparkle - The Distance To Here

Just be reading through the blogs of my friends who went to Sparkle which I sadly missed this year. I was glad to see in the main everyone had a good time. Couldn't resist the song above by the American band Live.
For me now I'm looking forward to getting out again. Next month is a possibility, but if not a few days in September should be possible all being well.
I have found really stressful situations do temporarily affect me, but in saying that last time out when I went shopping although nervous it wasn't a problem and I got back to enjoying being out and about. Hopefully I'll be able to spread my wings a bit more.
